We've been at this sustainability thing for a while now, and honestly? It's become more than just a buzzword for us
Look, when I started out in architecture back in the day, "green building" wasn't even really a thing people talked about. But after seeing how much energy buildings waste and the impact that has... I couldn't just ignore it anymore.
We're not gonna pretend we're perfect - there's always more to learn. But every project gives us a chance to push further, try something new, and hopefully leave things a bit better than we found 'em. That's what gets us up in the morning, y'know?
It's been a journey with some stumbles, but we're proud of where we've landed
Started seriously researching passive design principles after a client asked why their energy bills were so high. That was embarrassing, honestly. Dove deep into thermal mass, orientation, and natural ventilation.
Got our first LEED Silver certification. The paperwork was brutal - not gonna lie - but seeing how much less energy that building used compared to traditional designs? Worth it. Started offering this as a dedicated service.
Partnered with local suppliers for reclaimed timber and low-carbon concrete alternatives. Found this amazing salvage yard that's become our go-to spot. Now we specify recycled content in basically everything we design.
Made the call to aim for net-zero energy on all new builds where the budget allows. It's ambitious, sure, but we've learned you gotta set the bar high. Completed three net-zero residential projects that year.
Started designing buildings with their eventual disassembly in mind. Sounds weird, but it means future generations can reuse materials instead of sending 'em to landfills. Also finally got our Passive House certification - that exam was no joke.
We're now working with biomimicry principles, exploring hemp-based building materials, and pushing for regenerative design - buildings that actually give back to their environment. There's always something new to try.

We're data nerds when it comes to measuring impact. Here's what we've actually achieved across our portfolio:
*Averaged across 37 completed projects from 2017-2024, measured against regional building code minimums
Let's chat about how we can make your project sustainable without compromising on design or blowing your budget. We've learned a few tricks over the years.
Building our own tool to track the full carbon footprint of materials from extraction through construction. Should be ready by Q3 2024.
Running free workshops on sustainable home upgrades at the local community center. Next one's in three weeks if you're interested.
Partnering with UBC to study how buildings can actively improve air quality and local ecosystems. Early results look promising.
Creating a database of local suppliers and salvage yards. Tired of seeing perfectly good materials get tossed during renovations.
